How to escape nasty mental loops

Hey friend,

Had a fun chat with my buddy Matthew the other day.

One of those unplanned, spontaneous conversations.

We were talking about loops, mental and emotional.

The “what if I fail?” type of loops. The “I can’t afford it!” ones. The “maybe later” ones.

What we came to is this:

The only reason a loop keeps running is because we keep investing in it.

Our attention is energy.

And if it’s always pointed outward—toward the road ahead—we’re not even in the car.

Stillness interrupts the loop.

Not by force, but by exposure.

When you’re still, you start to see the stories you’ve been telling yourself.

You realize they’re not truth… they’re repetition.

And from there?

Space opens up. New possibilities. Unexpected solutions.

A kind of grace that doesn’t come from grinding. It comes from alignment.

In the spaciousness, clarity comes.

Here’s the wildest part: We’re not given the fear loop by accident.

We give it to ourselves... so we can create the unique solution.

One that’s ours and ours alone.

The future we’re afraid of? It’s not real.

But the energy we reclaim by not feeding that fear and allowing those tensions to dissolve within yourself? That’s where magic begins.

So maybe today… just sit. Don’t fix. Don’t plan. Don’t loop.

Just sit in meditation on a cushion. Close your eyes. Breathe gently.

And let the deeper intelligence in you do what it’s always been trying to do:

Guide you home to yourself.
